Revit Technology Corporation Ships Revit 4.1

-- Parametric Building Modeller's 11th Release Features New Functionality and Performance --

WALTHAM, Mass., Jan. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Revit Technology, ( www.revit.com), creator of the first parametric building modeller for the AEC industry, today announced the availability of Revit(TM) 4.1. Driven by users' overwhelmingly positive response to Revit's most recent release, Revit 4.1 delivers schedule and tag improvements, externally named parameter import and support for Italian and Dutch. Revit 4.1 comes less than two months after the general availability of Revit 4.0, further demonstrating the value that Revit Technology delivers to subscribers with its rapid release cycle.

Revit 4.1 delivers user-definable scheduling and tagging of families, extending parametric building modelling beyond mere documentation of designs to AEC information management. Users can now add and define parameters from external tables and attach those properties to families within a Revit model. Users can schedule families in multiple categories and create custom tags based on any parameter, exponentially increasing the value of Revit's tagging and scheduling capabilities. Revit 4.1 provides greater flexibility in designing schedules and positioning column headers to read horizontally or vertically, enabling improved schedule design and ease of use.

Revit 4.1 also introduces functionality that makes it even easier for project managers operating in a migrating CAD firm to integrate Revit with other legacy CAD programs. Using this interoperability, users can cross-link drawing graphics between Revit and legacy CAD environments, ensuring that any work done using legacy CAD is automatically updated and managed in Revit, while legacy CAD users on the team also always have current information from the Revit model. Ultimately, managers have greater flexibility in utilizing staff who are proficient in legacy CAD tools on Revit-based projects.

"Revit's interoperability with legacy CAD will give my team greater flexibility in driving design projects to rapid completion and ensures that our staff resources are always maximized," said Jim Gleeson, AIA, of Little & Associates Architects. "Because of Revit Technology's rapid release cycle and subscription program, the Company is continually delivering user enhancements that are easy for my design team to learn and apply quickly." Users will have access to several other improvements in functionality within this latest release, including:

    Italian and Dutch language support;
    Radial array with controllable center point, radius, angles and number of
elements;
    More options for locating walls;
    Assignment of materials to pre-set or custom categories; and
    More alternatives for merging of toposurfaces.

"In Revit 4.1, we've delivered substantial enhancements in functionality and usability within this release as well as translated and localized Italian and Dutch versions," said David Lemont, CEO of Revit Technology Corporation. "Our torrid pace of software development continually raises Revit's ease-of- use factor far ahead of legacy CAD vendors within the AEC market."
