ANSYS Workbench Software Tutorial with MultiMedia CD is directed toward using finite element analysis to solve engineering problems. Unlike most textbooks which focus solely on teaching the theory of finite element analysis or tutorials that only illustrate the steps that must be followed to operate a finite element program, ANSYS Workbench Software Tutorial with MultiMedia CD integrates both. This textbook and CD are aimed at the student or practitioner who wishes to begin making use of this powerful software tool.
The primary purpose of this tutorial is to introduce new users to the ANSYS Workbench software, by illustrating how it can be used to solve a variety of problems. To help new users begin to understand how good finite element models are built, this tutorial takes the approach that FEA results should always be compared with other data results. In several chapters, the finite element tutorial problem is compared with manual calculations so that the reader can compare and contrast the finite element results with the manual solution. Most of the examples and some of the exercises make reference to existing analytical solutions
In addition to the step by step tutorials, introductory material is provided that covers the capabilities and limitations of the different element and solution types. The majority of topics and examples presented are oriented to stress analysis, with the exception of natural frequency analysis in chapter 12, and heat transfer in chapter 13.

This book gives you a very basic introduction to ANSYS workbench. I would prefer going to ANSYS portal to find better examples and tutorials.
TO ALL TUTORIALS AUTHORS TAKE NOTE, THIS IS HOW TO DO IT!!!
I buy alot of books but never have the time to do reviews such as this. However I made an exemption with this one.
This tutorial is fantastic, easy to follow and highly recommended. I would have given this book and DVD tutorial 10 stars if allowed. To all you Tutorial authors for computer programming, CAD, FEA etc WAKE UP! this package is how to do it!
Some key requirements for a top tutorial package such as this:
First, publish your tutorial book with a DVD. The book and DVD work very well together and makes your package stand out from the competition. It's better than having one of my lecturers in front me.
Second, make the DVD and book easy to follow for beginners, not just you the author.
Third, don't miss any steps.
Fourth, make the tutorial comprehesive enough to be worth the price, eg 250+ pages.

This book may pay for itself.
As a practicing engineer, I had a chance to take an ANSYS class that used this text. As the synopsis states the text includes a CD-ROM that provides the working files mentioned in the text. The two worked flawlessly together. I have had other classes where the supporting files were no better than the written examples or were not very clear in their purpose. Not so with this text.
It works likes this: You follow the instruction in the textand what it says will happen... happens. No surprises. This is a step by step manual. It doesn't leave you behind. There are video lessons on the CD that show you exactly what to click and just what will happen. The screen shots are just what you will see as you follow each practice problem. Did I mention no surprises. This is one of the rare texts written with the student in mind. It doesn't talk down to you or over your head. All terms are the same ones that you will see in the software.
ANSYS software can make it possible to DFEMA an idea or to help with DOE for a change to an existing part. ANSYS makes its bones by taking a complex task and making it simple and efficient. This text takes the task of learning to use the ANSYS software and likewise efficiently teaches the novice how to make use of this invaluable tool.
Your next raise will pay for this book many times over. You need to learn ANSYS and you need to buy this book. Do it!
