Apprio Awarded Mojave Desert Ecosystem GIS/IT Program

WASHINGTON, DC -- (Marketwired) -- Sep 15, 2014 -- Tracking an endangered tortoise across the Mojave Desert, which encompasses parts of California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona, can be complicated. Under a contract with the Mojave Desert Ecosystem Program (MDEP), Apprio Inc. will support endeavors to track threatened species and other programs in the Mojave ecosystem.

Apprio will provide geospatial and technology services in support of MDEP's core missions.

Apprio's support includes:

  • Geographic information system (GIS) development and management using ESRI and open source tools
  • Database development and management using various solutions
  • Web services such as website management and custom Web-based tools
  • Development and support of mobile data tools using HTML 5 and other solutions
  • Cloud server hosting and support

"With the rapid changing technological landscape and increasing demands for data and data access, MDEP, through Apprio's support, provides both cost-effective and robust solutions for the agencies they serve," said Darryl F. Britt, Apprio's president and founder.

The MDEP was designed to coordinate GIS data and electronic reports between federal, state and local agencies in the Mojave Desert Ecoregion. The collaborative program is made up of the U.S. Army, U.S. Marines, Bureau of Land Management and the National Park Service.
