AS safety concept accelerates research, creating a path to deployment and production

MORTON, Ill., Feb. 25, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Hexagon | AutonomouStuff, in collaboration with TÜV SÜD, has created a safety concept for its proprietary PACMod 3.0 drive-by-wire system that is designed to accelerate the road approval process throughout Europe, foremost in Germany, for the Lexus RX450h Automated Research Development Platform.

The TÜV SÜD-approved safety assessment of our Lexus PACMod 3.0 System is required to apply for an exemption to the Road Traffic Permit Act and receive authorization from the German government to operate automation functions on public roads in specific regions of the country.

"This achievement provides the market with a safer drive-by-wire system that could be approved for public road use around the world."

The TÜV SÜD-approved safety concept is structured so that the PACMod 3.0 System can be installed in the AutonomouStuff Lexus platform, and the vehicle remains legal to operate on the street with the system disabled. Customers who want to use the platform on public roads with the system enabled must still seek an exemption that evaluates their software stack directing control of the drive-by-wire system. By establishing this roadmap to approval for our customers, AutonomouStuff is acting on its mission to enable, accelerate and deploy the future of autonomy.
