Tecplot Focus 2008 Released

BELLEVUE, WA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Jan 07, 2008 -- Tecplot, Inc., the developer of Tecplot data visualization and technical plotting solutions, announces the immediate availability of Tecplot Focus 2008, a major upgrade of its all-purpose engineering plotting software.

One of the more significant new features is Python scripting, which was created specifically for engineers who require additional analysis (FFTs, splines, statistical functions, etc.) or more scripting flexibility. Python is an open-source, object-oriented programming language that offers strong support for integration with other languages and tools and comes with extensive standard libraries. Tecplot Focus 2008 users can now leverage the extensive set of open-source libraries that are now available.

"Tecplot Focus continues to be the engineer and scientist's all-purpose tool of choice for measured field data and engineering plotting," said Mike Peery, president and CEO of Tecplot, Inc. "Our support of the Python programming language enables our users to extend the software's post-processing capabilities to meet their analysis requirements."

Other new features and user-requested enhancements in Tecplot Focus 2008 include:

-- Updated user interface. Frequently used tools are now organized on
the menu bar. A double click sends users to that function's detailed menu.
-- New animation options. Tecplot Focus now offers additional animation
options including throttling frame rate, loop and bounce modes.
-- Multiple color maps, more contour groups. Tecplot Focus now supports
eight color map groups per frame.
-- New platform support. Tecplot Focus 2008 now supports 64-bit Linux,
64-bit Windows, and Intel Mac. Screen fonts on these platforms have also
    been improved.

Pricing and Availability: Tecplot 360 Focus is available for Windows (XP, Vista), Mac OS X, and Linux. Annual license pricing starts at $1,500 in the U.S.
