Congratulations to Oscar-Nominated Films Using Blackmagic Design

MILPITAS, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — February 10, 2011 — Blackmagic Design would like to congratulate “Alice in Wonderland”, “The Fighter”, “The Kids Are Alright” and “Hereafter” on their 2011 Oscar nominations, awarded by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Blackmagic Design is proud to announce that the color correction for all of these films was done on Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve non-linear color correction system.

The DaVinci Resolve system was used to address a wide range of color correction and 3D grading needs presented by the films. This year’s nominees also join the long list of Oscar-nominated films which have used DaVinci Resolve systems in the past, including last year’s nominees, “Avatar”, “Precious”, “Invictus” and “Coraline”.

DaVinci Resolve is used by thousands of colorists worldwide. It has been used to grade more feature films, television commercials, documentaries, episodic television productions and music videos than any other color grading system -- including box-office hits such as “Avatar”, “Robin Hood,” “Quantum of Solace” and “Transformers.”

About DaVinci Resolve

Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve is the world’s highest performance color correction solution for Mac OS X and Linux computers. DaVinci Resolve on Linux supports more real time color correction than any other system because it’s not limited by the performance of the computer it’s running on. DaVinci Resolve on Linux eliminates this performance barrier because it’s based on a cluster of computers with high performance GPU cards, so all processing is always real time. DaVinci Resolve has the power of a true real time performance solution so handles complex color grades even when using dozens of primaries, secondaries, Power Windows™, multi point tracking, blurs, and more. The new Mac OS X version provides strong performance in a low cost solution. Customers can then easily upgrade from Mac to Linux for supercomputer power to handle 4K resolutions, stereoscopic 3D and real time grading direct from RED raw R3D files can be handled with ease.
